Tomatoes Attacked!

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem but I sure do. My tomatoes plants were invaded by caterpillars earlier this spring and it took some doing but, I think I finally got that under control. Now something and I suspect they're back but they brought some backup with them. More fruit than I harvest are eatin into and there are little beetle looking critters inside the tomatoes. The chickens sure are enjoying all the damaged tomatoes that's for suure. I think they look forward to those every morning now. Lol...
It's pretty frustrating because they were doing so well after the first attack and I'm tempted to pull everything up and bombard the soil with insecticide.

The funny thing is that they pretty much leave everything else alone.
I'll give it another week or so and decide on what to do then.

Sorry to hear about your tomatoes...
But I didn't check my parsley for a couple of days and these stripped caterpillar have just about ate up all the leaves...

Yea, it sucks that I have so many plants and most are damaged. I have about 6 different varieties and what I've gotten from them so far have been delicious.
In fact I had a fantastic tomatoe sandwich for lunch yesterday. I have a Golden something for todays lunch. I'll have to check to see the exact name on that one so I can plant it again next year.

Getting ready to go out and give the chickens a bucket of damaged tomatoes. They love tomatoes and in no time will leave no evidence at all.

Paw Paw Nate did you use Bacillius Thuricide by Hy Yield on your plants? The Misses gets hers at Jeff Feed. Love those home grown tomatoes

I'll have to remember that one.
I gotta say the ones that were attacked I gave to the chickens and they would absolutely make them disappear.

We had problems with vine rot. Wife took a tomato to the local nursery in the Yune and they hooked her up with what fixed it.

My plants are still blooming. Tomatoes, eggplants and peppers. Are we the only ones?

I've been gradually pulling up the dying plants. The heat lately has been hell on them too but, I'm down to about two plants that are still producing.
Funny thing is that about a month ago I just pulled up a tomato plant that somehow a seed got sowed in a planter a long distance from where I had tomatoes planted almost two years ago. That tomato plant grew in that planter for almost 1.5 years and lasted through our extreme winter.

and still produced small tomatoes. I just finally pulled it up to re-pot something else there.

I'll remember this next year but, I wonder if there's something I can treat the soil with after all plants are gone.
